Stand on hands with Peter
Have you always wanted to learn to do handstands? Join a small PT group with a maximum of four participants over 5 weeks, where Peter will follow you closely throughout the process.
I want to join!
Why stand on your hands?
Handstand is a skill that challenges on many levels; strength, balance, coordination, body awareness and, not least, patience.
The process towards handstand will give you many useful lessons about your own body. You will build functional full-body strength, challenge your body in new ways and train your ability to stay focused. In addition to the physical, the journey towards handstand will give you the opportunity to explore how you face fear and uncertainty. Being upside down requires you to be present in your own body and can be experienced as a kind of active meditation.
Not least, it's a fun skill to have, especially as an adult! Playing with handstands allows for play and curiosity, and an enormous sense of accomplishment when we notice progress.
What can I expect?
To give enough attention to each participant, there are only 4 places on this course. This will ensure a lot of individual follow-up from Peter.
You can expect to work with, among other things:
⟡ Basic handstand technique
⟡ How to use your hands and fingers to create balance
⟡ Body position and line in handstand
⟡ Strength and control relevant to handstands
⟡ How to get up and down safely
⟡ Exercises you can take with you and practice on your own
⟡ Individual feedback and adjustments from Peter
Peter adapts the training to the group and the individual participant, so the content will also depend on your level and goals. The goal is for you to understand more of what actually happens when you stand on your hands, and know what you can work on after the course. Since the group only consists of four participants, you will receive close follow-up while learning together with others who are at about the same level as you.

I attended a handstand workshop at Yogaskolen with Peter and Halat. Peter explained each step on the path to handstand in great detail, and gave many clues that make the journey easier. I think everyone who attended felt safe and seen.

.. So: Handstand workshop at Yogaskolen . The plan was smart: we started with the head (understanding), continued with the body (preparations), and ended with the hands (safe progressions). Each exercise was just the right challenge, and I got specific adjustments that actually worked for my body.
Is the course right for me?
This course is for those of you who are new to handstands and want to learn the basics.
Is this you?
⟡ Never tried handstands, but always wanted to learn
⟡ Played with handstands a bit, but found it difficult to find balance
⟡ Unsure of how to work alone to get ahead
⟡ Want to work specifically on handstands over time
The course starts from scratch and builds the skill step by step. During the course you will learn how to work with the nervous system and what exercises you can practice between sessions.
Do you want to work on handstand press or 1-arm handstand? Then 1 to 1 personal follow-up with Peter would be a better option. Click here to read more.
What is realistic to achieve after 5 weeks?
Handstands take time to learn, and progress varies from person to person. Strength, shoulder mobility, previous training experience, and how much you practice between sessions affect how quickly you progress.
After 5 weeks you can expect to:
⟡ Understand how to create balance with your hands and fingers
⟡ Get up and down safely, even when you lose your balance
⟡ Know which exercises to prioritize to progress
⟡ Have received individual feedback on your own technique
The goal is not for everyone to be independent after the course. The goal is for you to know exactly what to work on and have the tools to do it.
Who teaches the course?
Peter has been Yogaskolens handstand coach since the beginning, and has since held a number of handstand workshops. He has been standing on his hands since he was young and has many years of experience as a gymnastics coach.
Today Peter works as a personal trainer at Yogaskolen , where he helps you who want to explore handstands on a deeper level, whether you are a beginner or want to further develop what you already know.
