Halat Sophie Askari
Hi, my name is Halat, and I have been working as a personal trainer since 2015, certified through SAFE Education. I also have a bachelor's degree in sports science from the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, with a specialization in rehabilitation, training for the elderly and back problems. Since 2015, I have completed well over 10,000 PT hours, yoga classes and group classes.
My yoga journey started with a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa training in 2017, followed by a 300-hour Vinyasa training in 2020. I have also taken Yin Yoga levels 1 and 2 with Ulrica Nordberg, as well as several courses in anatomy, physiology and exercise science. I still find the human body to be one of the most fascinating things in existence.
Just one year after I started practicing myself, I started teaching at Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary teacher trainings. Since 2018, I have been involved in developing and holding educations, courses and workshops within Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, anatomy and strength training, in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Teaching is my dharma - that is why Yogaskolen exists today.
I also live with fibromyalgia and am hypermobile. It affects how the body responds to stress, and I am still in an exploratory phase where I am trying to understand what it actually means in practice. To avoid injury, I had to balance many of the forward bends with other types of movements. I started exploring more slowly, rather than pushing myself through the poses, and the focus shifted from doing the poses correctly to feeling myself into them.
Challenging the nervous system through yoga is my favorite form, with creative transitions, energetic music, and a high mood.
