Why is it important for everyone to know more about anatomy?
Understanding how your body works is the first step towards making better choices. By learning about how your body's systems work together and how parts of your body affect each other, you will be better equipped to make good choices about diet, exercise and overall well-being.
It is important to understand that learning about anatomy is a lifelong journey of discovery. Along the way, you will constantly discover new connections and be amazed by how everything fits together. The goal of anatomy knowledge is to be able to help ourselves better.
What about yoga teachers?
Knowledge of anatomy allows yoga teachers to understand how different muscles, bones, and joints work together. This understanding makes it easier to guide others to perform yoga poses more clearly and effectively, thereby also minimizing the risk of injury.
Knowledge of anatomy also makes it easier to adapt yoga poses based on individual anatomy, ensuring that all students can benefit from yoga classes.
Yoga teachers who demonstrate a solid understanding of anatomy strengthen their credibility as teachers, and attract students who value safety and informed guidance. It is often easy to tell who really knows what they are talking about. Students will feel much more confident in the room with a teacher who conveys both professionalism and expertise to their students.

Meet your teacher:
Halat Sophie Askari
Hi, my name is Halat! I have taught anatomy in many yoga educations, given courses, workshops and lectures for other fitness experts since 2017 and am a certified anatomy nerd. My interest started during my first PT education in 2015, and was reinforced when I took my B.Sc. in Sports Science at the Norwegian School of Sports Medicine. Since then, I have taken several courses and built up a large library of anatomy books. In addition, I have E-RYT® 500 and YACEP® approval with Yoga Alliance.
We have so much more control and influence over our own physical and mental health than many people realize. The body is so incredibly fascinating and my goal is to give you an interest in anatomy that will allow you to embark on your own journey.
In this course we will go through all the major systems of the body.
All of the body's major systems interact with each other in complex ways. This course gives you a deeper understanding of how everything from muscle engagement and joint movement to hormonal changes affect our body and how we can influence it through yoga.
